Anyone waiting on the Canon G13, will be relieved to know that the Canon EOS 1GX is now the replacement for the G12.  The wait is over, almost, as the release date for the Canon EOS G1Xis set for March 31st, 2012, so only a couple of weeks.  Amazon is already offering the camera up for pre-order, so consider this a done deal.

The camera is coming fully equipped and retails at $799, which is a steal for everything that this camera offers.

G13: No News

Waiting on the Canon G13. I really wish I had some good news to relate to you in regards to the G13. But unfortunately there isn’t anything to report. Canon likes to keep their camera releases hush-hush until they have a grasp on the release date and also all things tied up behind the scenes. Canon has been working feverishly to get things in line for the holiday season and with the earthquake in March of this year they have been set back considerably. So while there’s no news on the G13, there has been a recent announcement for the Canon EOS1 DX which will be released in March of 2012. So while there is no explicit good news for the Canon G13, we like to think that it does imply some potentially good news on the much-anticipated G13 horizon. The reason being is that Canon seems to have put the past behind it and is back to producing world-class digital cameras.

The year 2011 will go down in history as one of the most catastrophic years for Canon and even Nikon, who have both been hit by severe natural disasters. And as we all know the world we live in is globally connected so what happens in another country greatly affects the supply chain, manufacturing, and ultimately the release date of a new product.

So while we wait for some type of news, any news really on the Canon G13, all we are left to do is speculate and dream of what can and might be up to behind the scenes. The longer we wait the harder it gets. We would love Canon to release a new nugget or even just a pinch of news in her guards to the G13. Canon has just come out with some releases, although they are not the Powershot G13, that we have all hoped for.  Why is this good news for the G13?  This is the first news from Canon on any new releases in a long time and it is proof that Canon has recovered to a certain extent from the March earthquake.  This is huge news for any Canon enthusiast and it is one that we view as promising to say the least.  So now what do we expect from Canon?  Time will tell what is to come and it will not be very long at all.  There were some rumors that the Canon G13 was being scrapped because Canon released the S100, which is a similar camera to the G line of cameras.  Fortunately the G line of cameras have distinguished themselves and have a cult-like following.  This is the line of cameras that fits a nice void in between point and shoot and digital single lens reflex.  It is portable enough to leave your DSLR at home and take with you on short trips without sacrificing much.

There is a big announcement ahead for Canon, on the 3rd of November, 2011, a Friday.  The announcement will take place in Hollywood, California, and we have high hopes that an announcement on the Canon Powershot G13, could come with it.  This could be the biggest announcement from Canon in history, as they have a lot of cameras that are scheduled to be released/announced in the near future, including their DSLR line of high end professional cameras.  All in all, this is a great time to be a photo enthusiast and a great time for Canon as they celebrate some great camera releases and get back on their feet from the earthquake.

No News is Not Good News for the Canon Powershot G13

As the days and weeks go by with still no release date specs from Canon, we have to start to wonder when this camera will be hitting the open market.  Canon is never the one to actually tease customers with a release date until a camera is officially ready, so that must be the case with the Canon G13.  The earthquake has undoubtedly effected things on the production end, as Canon was very close to the epicenter of the quake.  They actually shut down production completely for a little bit as they had to assess the damage and make sure that all of their employees were safe.

There are some signs of progress with Canon, as they just announced the specs for the S100, which is a scaled down version of the G series.  So our hopes are that a Canon G13 release date and specs should be following this announcement very soon.  We are all ready to see the latest development from Canon in this great line of cameras.

Canon G13 Delayed?

There is a rumor swirling around that the new Canon G13 will be delayed due to the events in Japan.  This has not been confirmed, but would make sense to all of us.  The date that has been tossed around is the first quarter of 2012.

There have been no new releases on the specifications of the G13, but we will keep you posted as things come up.  This new version of the G series will be a huge step forward and we know that there are a lot of people excited about this release.  If you can’s wait then you may want to take a look at the Canon G12, which is still a top of the line camera.

However, from what we have heard, this camera is worth waiting for and you will be quite surprised with the specs of it.

We have are ears up and are waiting for any announcement from Canon about this great new camera.

Canon Powershot G13 Rumors

The Canon G13 should be coming out soon, but there is no definite release date.  There is a lot of speculation on how much the Powershot G line of cameras will improve, as this is one of the most popular lines of cameras for Canon.  There is no doubt about this family of cameras being in a class of their own.  They are a great in between camera, bridging the gap between point and shoot and SLR.  The camera is a powerhouse, and looks the part too.

Here are some of the speculative specifications of the Canon Powershot G13:

  • 12 megapixel camera sensor.
  • 1080p HD video, which has become a standard in the industry
  • 6X optical zoom lens
  • New and improved flash location along with a higher resolution LCD screen on the back of the camera

These have not been confirmed, but are as good of a guess that is out there right now.  Check back as the details come in and we are able to give you a more accurate picture of the Canon G13 and its anticipated release date.

Canon G13 Release Date

The Canon Powershot G13 has not been set with a definitive release date….but from past history, it looks like it will be released this fall sometime.  All other releases of the G line of cameras have come in the fall, ranging from August to Septmeber.  This is just an estimate, and is based on past release date, so it may not come to fruition…..we as photography enthusiasts have our fingers crossed that it will be coming out.
